So what is media ripping, is it legal and why use a ripping service anyway?

Media ripping is simply taking your own CD or DVD converting it to a digital format to store on a computer, media server or your iPod /MP3 player, giving you entertainment at your finger tips, and what could be better than being able to select your entertainment from the comfort of your armchair.

As for legality, as long as you own a CD then under the fair use copyright act you can convert to a digital format for personal use on your server or iPod/MP3 player, or use MustAVit as your agent to convert on your behalf, but it is illegal to share or publish the converted file. DVD’s are different in that most contain copy protection and it is illegal to circumvent that protection, this means that to convert to a digital format the copy protection must stay intact thus preventing DVD copies to be made, but still with the ability to be played from a server/Cinema system . Our ripping service only operates within all copyright laws, we only act as your agent and convert only personally owned media, we will not remove any copy protection, we will also not keep copies of any media we convert.

Why use MustAVit and not simply do your ripping. As Media Ripping Manager I believe the service I provide for MustAVit is not just about ripping, yes, anyone can rip a CD but can you also get all that important track data accurate and consistent without all the annoying bits that always seem to be embedded and take hours to edit out, can you find all the album art that makes selecting albums so much easier and what about Genre, if you want specific Genre classification for your albums then I make sure these are applied. Most importantly how long will it all take, I can rip up to 500 albums and return them fully groomed within a working week stored ready for use on DVD’s, a backup hard drive or at no extra cost loaded directly onto your own iPod or music server.

How does our service work, it’s simple, you ask for a quote, pay a small deposit, we send out spindles that hold 50 CD’s, we arrange a pick up, convert your CD’s and once completed email you an overview of your collection together with your invoice, after payment is received your CD’s together with the digital files are returned to you. If you can’t bear the idea of a courier transporting your precious collection then you can always visit us at our Wheathampstead office.

MustAVit have got their iPad…..Jealous?!

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Well I have just got back from a wonderful holiday with the family in Florida, luckily we got back when we did otherwise it could have been another week or so in Miami because of the ash cloud, although I could think of worse places to be stuck!!

Whilst in Miami we went to the Apple Store and bought an iPad, although everyone else in the uk is having to wait until May now to get their hands on one we have ours now,  and what a great product it is, just as we thought it would be and much more .  Not only is it a great product but what a great service from all the staff at the Apple Store, although we had to queue we were looked after and supplied with drinks to keep us going and when you did get to the front of the queue you were personally taken into the store by a member of staff who helped you through your sale, their customer service is second to none, lets hope the staff in the UK are just as good.  As you can see here is a picture of Andy and our daughter Rosie out side the Apple store with the new iPad, and he is one happy customer!!

This is what Andy has to say about the iPad: “When I watched the keynote speech from Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs my immediate thoughts were that there was nothing really different about the iPad compared to the current iTouch apart from the size. We already knew it would make a great controller for the ControlFX app (our very own iPhone and iPad app that turns these devices into a remote to control all your electronic equipment) but thought that would be the only real benefit. Having now used the iPad for over 2 weeks my view is now VERY different. The iPad is truly awesome and something that becomes a major part of the things that I do everyday. News for example is now delivered to the iPad via the BBC iPad app so I can read the days news without getting out of bed.  Emails and browsing the internet are now so easy on the iPad and the gaming is fantastic. Looking forward to the flood of iPad apps that are on the way”

Let’s hope the iPad stocks get to the UK soon, and then everyone can enjoy having the world at their fingertips!!

And don’t forget to have a look at all the new apps specially designed for the iPad, including ControlFX.

MustAVit introduce’s CHARLiE

Roth’s pair of CHARLiEs here to liberate computer held tunes

Roth CHARLiE speaker systems take tunes held on very small things – think Macs, PCs, laptops, iPhones and iPods – and make them sound very big

The runaway success of the likes of iTunes and Spotify means more and more music is ‘trapped’ on flash drives and hard drives. This all makes fine sense… until you listen to tunes via the speaker systems generously found built-in to the sexy-looking, but increasingly compact Mac, PCs and laptops.

The resulting sonics from these built-in speakers tend to come ladled with ASBO-deserving treble, search in vain for a modicum of convincing midrange and are complete strangers to the valley town known as Bass. In a word: bad.

The new wireless-capable Roth CHARLiE desktop speaker systems aim to put an end to this sorry state of audio affairs. Available in two strains – a 2.0 set-up and a 2.1 system – the packages bring power and polish to proceedings.

The 2.0 is a two speaker set-up, while the 2.1 adds a subwoofer. Both systems come complete with a RothDock meaning – thanks to the wireless receiver built into the base of the speaker – a wire-free connection between your docked iPhone or iPod. The RothDock is also officially both a ‘Made for iPod’ and ‘Works with iPhone’ certified product, so there is no need to adjust your iPhone’s settings to ‘airplane mode’.

The CHARLiE 2.0 employs an active monitor design, with a speaker cabinet-enclosed amplifier capable of 15 watts per channel. Its big brother, the CHARLiE 2.1 houses the electronics within the chassis of it curvaceous subwoofer, resulting in 25 watts to drive each speaker, plus a further 25 watts to power the sub itself.

Connectivity perfectly suits today’s audio libraries: each system includes a 3.5mm auxiliary input, while the USB socket enables connection to a wide range of computer products and includes iTunes synchronisation ability.

Roth AV has already received wide commendations for its range’s visual appeal and the two CHARLiEs maintain the family good looks. Available in black or white the curved speaker design pitches perfectly on desk and table tops, while the cylindrical subwoofer is a rare thing in the world of bass engines – in that it looks pretty, so doesn’t require hiding behind a sofa.

Roth AV founder James Roth says, “Roth prides itself in recognising the trends and wishes of the modern music fan, and the mushroom in the numbers of people listening to music through computer systems – as well as iPhones and iPods – makes the CHARLiE 2.0 and 2.1 essential. Essential, yes, but beautiful looking and superb sounding, too.”

The Roth Audio CHARLiE 2.0 and CHARLiE 2.1 launch in April 2010 and have approximate retail prices (inc. VAT) of £219 and £319 respectively.

MustAVit feel this is going to be a fantastic product that, will revolutionise desktop music, there are now so many different options for what ever set up you are looking for, which MustAVit have the knowledge and experience to provide you with what you are looking for. You will see this product on the website shortly!
