Sonos has always been a favourite of mine, just for the ease of use that the system has. The original controllers were good, easy to use, you also didn’t have to worry about where you left the CR100 due to it being waterproof. The CR200 was/is a classy little number as well, but you cant help feel that now we have an iPhone app and soon to have an iPad app that the original controllers will be made redundant.
When the iPhone app was released, the ease of having your Sonos Controller in your pocket along with everything else that your iPhone offered was…I could say life changing but i won’t go that far…yet!!
The iPad app that is available in August will change once again, the way in which we use our Sonos systems, you obviously won’t be able to pop the iPad in your pocket but the ease of use is still there!
The main features of the iPad app and between that and the iPhone app, are that it has a new revamped layout using the whole 9.7 inch screen to show you every zone and whats being played as well the cover art in full screen mode. The neat part of the new app is the drag and drop feature where you can choose a song and drag it into a room of your choice and add it to the relevant queue.
When we see the app and try it for ourselves, I am pretty sure we will see the best Audio Remote for any music system out there, it will be even better now there is the Multi-tasking feature on the IOS4.0. Team it up with a Sonos S5 Zoneplayer and you will have a very impressive Home Audio System.
One thing i forgot to mention is that it is completely FREE, which is unbelieveable when you see what you are getting from the app.
